The windmill stood on what was called 'Mill Hill'.  It is now known as Bell Hill.

The mill stood opposite the 18th Century, Grade II listed, Mill Cottages on Southend Road. Today there are trees between the cottages and an entrance in to Mill Meadows Nature Reserve.

The mill fell in to disrepair and was blown down in 1928.  It had been used as a look out post during World War One.
