Church Road today goes past Pitsea Cemetery and Crematorium, then also The Rectory before making a right turn and heading downhill towards St. Margaret’s Church.

Before the new town Church Road came up from the church and went straight on through what is now the A13 to what is now Old Church Road at the point it joins London Road.
Next door to the Cemetery stands The Rectory, which appears on the Chapman and Andre map of 1777.

The Rectory is a wonderful looking building standing in roughly 2 acres of land that had been converted in to offices but appears to be undergoing some renovation.
Plans were submitted to the Council in 2014 to turn the building in to a wedding venue but were rejected. Rumours of the building being demolished were announced in the local press by the end of the year.

Next to the building is what appears to be a roundabout that I assume was where the horse drawn coaches can turn around. There is also part of a moat behind the building.

Recently the building has seen improvements to the surrounding land and is currently being used as offices.
