Basildon, Essex, England

Est. 2015

The village of Buers, now called Bowers Gifford, was listed in the Domesday Book survey of 1086.

The village is situated between Pitsea and Benfleet, and is easily accessed along London Road.

The area takes part of its name from The Gifford family who were once important residents.

The village of North Benfleet shares a postcode with Wickford and is bordered by Bowers Gifford to the south, Nevendon to the north, Pitsea to the west and South Benfleet to the (South) East.

Benflet, then part of the Barstable Hundred, (probably including both North and South Benfleet) was listed in the 1086 Domesday Book survey as being a large town of 83 households.
